Much to my delight, today is a Bank Holiday in England so we had Simon with us for one more day…and trust me with the exhaustion and pregnancy I really needed him…very emotional and feeling a little out of control, but at the same time excited to get going and start our life in this country (very strange feeling).
Today was about turning our little terrace house into a home. Nothing in England is a big as it is in South Africa, but at the same time there are loads of windows so the house is not claustrophobic by any stretch of the imagination. Downstairs includes a good size lounge/diningroom/consevatory, kitchen and guest loo. Property equip with fridge, stove, washing machine and dishwasher so we were pretty much saved of those big expenses. Upstairs are three bedrooms and a bathroom and again these huge big windows let in loads of light so it is very airy and spacious.
Shopping included all kinds of wonderful stuff and I found a super shop called “Trading 4 U” in Haywards Heath (our nearest town – about 4kms away) which is like nothing I have ever seen before, you can get just about anything and it is all hodge podge on the shelves. We have decided to keep to pretty neutral colours and managed to get everything we needed. Took the car for my first drive and didn’t want to give Simon back the keys – Madge is a pleasure to drive and very forgiving, just a bit tricky navigating these tiny little country lanes in a 2m wide x 5m long bus (lol), but I am getting the hang of it slowly.
