WE SOLD OUR HOUSE - well subject to bond approval for the other party, but as they are lodging two thirds of the amount cash we are fairly confident that it will go through. It is a strangely bittersweet moment as once transfer has gone through our ties to South Africa, well physical at least, are officially cut and we really having nothing but family and friends to return for.
We also loved our house very much and although it was by no means the biggest or smartest it was our home and it seems strange to think that we will never live there again....that our children will never climb on the jungle gym or play in the mud bath they created out of one of the flower beds.....shew, another landmark moment and one that has brought tears to my eyes even though I would never want to live there again.
With the sale of this house for me our immigration is well and truly complete and we are officially "Scatterlings of Africa", time now to really throw ourselves into life here and commit either with the purchase of a home of our own or a business that will set us up to afford the home of our dreams. I am just grateful that we will be debt free and with savings in the bank as we move forward and I look forward to embracing this next chapter of our story.

you are so fortunate - if only we could sell ours then our immigration plans could be set in motion! Unlike yourselves, we have to sell before we can make the big move. God has his timing....
Well done Andrea! That is GREAT news. Keep looking forward. Never turn back. What you had was wonderful but that was the LAST phase of your life. Now you are in the NEXT phase. Our house is also back on the market in Zim now (for the last 3 weeks) & we are hoping to sell ASAP so we can buy here now. We are still too exhausted from our Zim move to start again, but we will do it...
OH WOW - well done GF. As I said...all the external factors are clearly supporting this move and your life as it is right now. To sell a house in this economic climate is a sure sign if any, that you're on the right track!

Wow, Andrea. Selling your house in South Africa is a huge psychological step to take. But I love your positive attitude, deciding that this is now the reason to put down deeper roots in England. There are many, many houses on the market here, and there are very few “sold” signs to be seen. So the sale of your house was just meant to be. J
That must be such a relief for you in some ways, but bittersweet too. Once again your positive attitude is inspirational.
fantastic news - yippeeee - we are so so so happy for you guys - you moved here cause you planned on living here and there is no reason to hang onto anything materialistic in SA. thrilled it sold and you managed to get nearly your asking price, lovely news
Well done on your house sale, I'd love to get rid of our house in Johannesburg but the market it so bad we've put tennants into it for 2 years. They seem okay so we'll just sit out the recession. "Scatterlings" of Africa you may well be, but Africa, regardless of how much you love your adopted country, will always be in your heart too. Just like parents are able to love more than one child, there is always space in your heart for two "homes". Who we are is determined far more by what's in our hearts and how we live our lives than by what our passports say or the postal code at the bottom of your address!
